Who doesn’t love a photoshoot full of color? I had the pleasure of photographing a custom dress created by my friend, the amazing Dominique Frazier (aka Dialicious Designs). She made this gorgeous and colorful custom dress and asked me to photograph it. Of course, I had to say yes. I remember seeing a sketch of this dress and seeing it actually come to life was awesome!
I knew the perfect place to photograph this session…Hendo Studios. Now, we just needed to find our model and makeup artist. I hit up the awesome Selina Hall and she agreed to be our model for this shoot. Bria Pugh of Slim Faces created a stunning look for Selina. I went for two looks with this shoot: one super colorful and one with a black and white background.
I even played around in photoshop and added some colored shapes to add a little more pizzaz to the photos. I matched the pop of additional color to Selina’s skirt.
Below is one of my favorite images from this shoot. I absolutely love photos where I can capture someone in motion and catch the dress being all flowy. I love this look and the whole vibe of this photo.
After we finished up on the yellow backdrop, we switched gears to the black and white backdrop created by Daniela X Christina. (I absolutely love this backdrop and want my own piece…but that’s for another day lol.) I wanted to change up her look a little bit and make it a little bit more “darker.” So I added some black fishnets, some black and silver spike bracelets, a black crown, and some knee-high black boots that Selina also brought.
Selina absolutely slayed this shoot and it was such a pleasure to work with everyone. I ended up submitting the photos for publication and they got accepted by VZSN Magazine. We were so excited to get this awesome session published. This was such a fun session and I can’t wait for the next one!
