So I had the pleasure of doing a product shoot with Dialicious Designs this past weekend and it was a blast! I’ve worked with Dominique of Dialicious Designs before (check out this blog post of a shoot I did with one of her designs), but this was the first time I’ve worked with her to photograph a line of some of her amazing pieces of clothing. I met Dominique about two or three years ago when I hosted my first styled shoot. She actually designed a wedding dress for this styled shoot. We’ve been friends since then.

When she reached out to me about taking photos for her new two-tone suspenders, I was super excited. Dominique is always super creative when she creates new pieces of clothing. I had actual seen a pair of these suspenders before when I visited her booth at Soul Swap a few weeks ago. I use to wear suspenders when I was younger and I would totally rock a pair of her suspenders.

So we actual met at Dominique’s mom’s house which has all these awesome Parisian themed sets. I’m going to have to go back and do another photo shoot there. There were five models there: Don, Garrett, Tanzania, Desiree, and Beena. Each model had two looks: 1) the women had African print skirts with suspenders and the men had African print pants with suspenders and 2) a pair of jeans and suspenders.

Dapper Don

The day was a scorcher…at least for San Diego lol. I started the shoot with the African skirt and pants. I started with Don first and we went to the yellow Parisian set. As we were shooting around 1:00 PM, I was glad that the sets had large patio umbrellas over them. This made my job easier balancing the light and shadows. I loved the yellow of this set and how it played with the green and yellow that Don was wearing.

Beautiful Beena

After shooting with Don, I moved on to work with Beena. This was my first time working with Beena. She was great to work with. She wore a long skirt and suspender set that matched Don’s pants and suspender set. One of the cool things with her skirt is that it had like tassels on it as well…but not like an annoying amount. Just enough to add a little bit more flair to the skirt. Just like with Don, I photographed Beena in the yellow Parisian set. I loved the headwrap that Dominique added to Beena’s outfit.

Good-Looking Garrett

After I finished photographing Don and Beena in their matching outfits, I moved on to working with Garrett. I’ve worked with Garrett once before a different photoshoot. (Check out some of the images from that shoot here.) Garrett wore blue and yellow African print pants and suspenders. We ended up shooting at the blue Parisian set. This set didn’t have an umbrella to block out some of the harsh sun so I ended up having V hold my giant diffuser above Garrett to help even out the light.

Darling Desiree

Sticking with the blue and yellow pattern, I then moved on to photographing Desiree. Not only is Desiree a great model, but she is an amazing makeup artist. I met Desiree at the same styled shoot I hosted and met Dominique at. Now, Desiree’s skirt and suspenders were a bit different than Beena’s in that Desiree’s skirt was a short skirt. I don’t wear a lot skirts, but I definitely might need to get this short skirt and suspenders set for the summer.

Talented Tanzania

The last model that I shot for this set of clothing was Tanzania. Tanzania was actually the first model I photographed solo. I absolutely love working with Tanzania as a model because she knows her angles so well. It makes my job a bit easier as I don’t have to worry about posing her (unless there a certain look I want). Tanzania rocked a red, white, and black skirt and suspenders set so of course I sit here in the red and white Parisian set.

I absolutely love how the images turned out from my product shoot with Dialicious Designs. I love being able to work with fellow Black woman creatives and helping bring their visions to life. The outfits were absolutely stunning and I would totally rock the skirts and suspenders…shoot, even the pants and suspenders. Now, I know you want a pair of these suspenders.
