I had the pleasure of working with the amazing Cindy (Cin) of She is Cinsational for her personal branding photoshoot. Cin is an amazing woman therapist that is focused on challenging you to show up “BOLD, FIERCE, AND CONFIDENT!” She is an inclusive advocate that wants to educate the community on the terms “differently-abled vs. disabled” and to break stigmas of “perfect body image.”
Cin and I actually met when she was looking for a photographer for her husband’s business photos. It took us a minute, but we were finally able to agree on a date for her photography session. Before her session, we ended up meeting at Tea Pavilion to do our pre-session brainstorming meeting. It was great to meet Cin and person and really nail down what her vision was for her session. Once all the details laid out, we just had to wait for her shoot date.
Since Cin wanted an indoor session, you know I had to go to my favorite studio here in San Diego, Hendo Studios. The first part of the shoot was a little tricky because she wanted to shoot against a white background in a white suit. White on white can be tricky because you don’t want your subject to blend into the background. However, I think we made it work.
After we finished the more corporate-looking images, it was time to move on to the fun images that really reflected who Cin was. Cin switched from the formal white suit into a black and red workout outfit with a matching pair of heels. Cin embraced her inner goddess and rocked this portion of her session. I captured a mixture of typical portrait poses as well as some poses more specific to Cin and what she wanted to convey. Cin also broke out the weights and showed us that strong is sexy.
Last, but not least, we also did a quick video for Cin. This video was where Cin had the opportunity to introduce herself and her brand to the world. Cin wanted to stay in her red and black outfit because it better fit her personality than the white suit. It took a few tries, but we were able to get the footage she needed. Talking in front of the camera can be so much more difficult than just having a conversation with a person.
This was such a fun personal branding session. We were able to capture the “corporate” side of her as well as her “true” side!
