So I had the pleasure of shooting a real estate headshot session with an up-and-coming real estate agent. I actually met my client through his wife. She had actually reached out to me first about a branding session for herself. I had her initial consultation and got to talking and she brought up her husband needing some photos. His session was scheduled for a few days after our consultation together.
The meeting ended up being about an hour before sunset in downtown San Diego. We had decided we would be shooting in an indoor location. It was this really cool luxury condo with these huge windows and clean aesthetic. I ended up packing light when it came to the light department (hehe). I brought my two smaller strobes and my small softbox. There was only one person to photograph so I didn’t think I need my super heavy-duty light or large softbox.
We shot in three different locations within the condo: 1) along the wall of windows, 2) out on the balcony, and 3) in the bathroom area (I promise the images here look better than they sound lol). So it was interesting shooting against the wall of windows with my strobe light because the flash would reflect in the window so you could see it. I had to move around to capture images without getting the flash reflection in the windows. We had some amazing light (thank you golden hour).
After we finished up inside, we headed outside to the balcony to get some of that San Diego sunset. There wasn’t a whole lot of room on the balcony, therefore, I had to shoot around my strobe and light stand. I shot the client with his back to the sun. This allowed me to get some great shots of the San Diego skyline. I had to add in some extra light with the flash to ensure that the client’s face could be clearly seen.
We ended up going back inside and complete a couple of more photos near the bathroom. Like I said, I know it sounds a little sketch, but I promise the images were cool lol. I ended up focusing on his reflection in the mirror. I love capturing reflection shots. I really love how these photos came out.
This was such a great session. I had a lot of fun and we got some great images as it gave me a chance to shoot in both natural light and with my strobe. I am love creating headshots that help business owners present their best selves. If you are need of some new personal brand photos, hit me up.
