So I had the pleasure of doing a North Park photoshoot with local model, Alexander Simone. I actually met Alexander through Instagram. We ended up meeting on Sunday hence the Sunday Funday title lol. I’ve shot in the North Park neighborhood a few times so when I went this time, we photographed at some of my favorite locations there…we also ended up shooting at a different location that I hadn’t shot at before.
We met up around 8:00 AM because I’m an early riser and there are not a lot of people walking around the neighborhood around that time. I highly recommend if you are wanting to do a photoshoot in that neighborhood or really any popular area in San Diego, you go early. We met in front of Nomad Donuts (which has one of the coolest wall murals in San Diego). From there, we headed to one of my favorite murals.
The colors Alexander were wearing worked great with the wall mural in this location. I also wanted to highlight the sunglasses that he had (because I love a good reflection shot. We went for a very chill and California-esque vibe.
From here, we walked over to the famous pink wall. We went for another chill California vibe, but with a pink vibe instead. We had some harsh sunlight at this location so I had to break out my flash to balance out some of the harsher sunlight. I really like how these images came out. It was a pretty monochromatic look and I was a fan. Now I want to do a full monochromatic photoshoot.
Finally, we headed to an area I hadn’t shot in before. Alexander had one more outfit he wanted to wear that consisted of a lot of blue. So we headed to an area that had some blue tiles we could shoot against. What I liked about this area was it had both dark and light blue tiles, but it also had some yellow tiles that helped the area pop. I did a bit of a dutch tilt for this image.
This North Park photoshoot was a lot of fun. I don’t necessarily photograph a lot of men so I was excited to work with Alexander during this session.
