Time for another blog post and today I want to discuss how my business was and is thriving during COVID-19. It hasn’t necessarily been easy or quick, but it has been worth it. This is kind of a build on my previous post where I talk about business lessons learned in 2020. I just want to share a few things that has helped me.

1. INVESTED IN THE BUSINESS SIDE OF MY PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS. This has probably been the biggest thing that has helped my photography business thrive during COVID-19. When I spent the money to invest in Tomayia Colvin’s mastermind class, I saw my business grow. During the mastermind class, I learned how to create a better back office, create a better client experience, refined my brand, and so much more. Once I learned how to properly run my business, my business saw growth and I made more money during COVID-19 than I did when things were “normal.” I also invested in speaking and working with Pru of Master Your Mint. She is a financial guru and helped me get my business finances in order.
2. STOPPED BUYING ALL THE THINGS. Bruh, once I stopped trying to buy all the things, I was amazed with how much “extra” money I had in my business bank account. I was buying a whole bunch of gear that I wasn’t using. For instance, I had like 5 lenses, but only used like the same 2 or 3 lenses. When I switched camera systems, I made the conscious effort not to buy a whole bunch of lenses. I bought the lenses I used regularly and purchased or rented additional lenses as needed.
3. ELEVATED MY CUSTOMER/CLIENT EXPERIENCE. Elevating my customer/client experience has been one of the key things to help my business thrive during COVID-19. People are willing to pay for an amazing customer/client experience. Once I was able to convey to potential clients the value of the client experience I was able to provide, they were willing to pay my asking price.
