Time for another blog post and today I want to talk about business lessons learned in 2020. 2020 has definitely been a challenging year for small businesses. There have been numerous shutdowns and a lot of people haven’t gotten the same amount of customers/clients that they had in 2019. Even though 2020 has been challenging, I did learn some great business lessons. I just wanted to share a few of them with you.
- DELEGATION IS NECESSARY. Bruh, this is the number one thing that I learned in 2020. I’m pretty awesome, but I can’t do everything. That is a major lesson I had to learn this past year. I can have a very narrow view when I get wrapped up in my photography and spend hours working on my photography business and hours ignoring my husband lol. By delegating things like culling, I can save myself hours of time. So instead of spending hours in front of my computer, I can spend those hours with my husband or doing something else to grow my business.
- INVEST IN THE BUSINESS SIDE OF MY PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESS. So I am a bit of a gear head. I love having the latest photography gear that I can afford. I was quick to spend money on new lenses or a new camera body, but I was hesitant to spend money on like educational material. I figured I could get everything I needed for free from YouTube and the internet. I had to learn that all this new gear wasn’t helping my business grow. Once I was willing to actually spend the money to invest in learning how to better run my business, I saw my business grow.
- CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING. Your ideal client is willing to pay money for your services. They are willing to pay good money for a good experience. I’ve gotten numerous comments and reviews from clients that raved about my customer experience. They felt like they got their money’s worth because not only did they get amazing photos, but they also go an amazing experience.
So there you have it. Those are three business lessons that I learned in 2020. What business lessons did you learn in 2020? Let me know in the comments below.
[…] or quick, but it has been worth it. This is kind of a build on my previous post where I talk about business lessons learned in 2020. I just want to share a few things that has helped […]
