What is a day in the life of Black Queen Photography you may ask? In a previous blog post, I wrote about how I balanced my 9-to-5, my small business, and family. So I wanted to share with y’all how a day in my life goes down during the week.
Wake up around 4:30 AM. Every morning I wake up around 4:30 AM. My 9-to-5 has conditioned me to wake up pretty early no matter what day of the week it is. It also doesn’t help that the hubby has to be at work by 5:00 AM so he’s up and moving around the same time lol.
Work out. Depending on the day of the week, I will go and get an early morning work out in. I’m one of those people that if I don’t work out early in the morning, I’m probably not going to work out for that day lol. However, I have been slacky mcslakerton lately so I’ll need to fix that for next month lol.
Getting Ready for 9-to-5/Breakfast. I try to snag some breakfast every morning because breakfast is the most important meal of the day allegedly lol. My breakfast can range from cereal to a quick meal from Burger King. Of course I’ll get ready for work.
Work the 9-to-5. So this is pretty standard. I go to the 9-to-5 and do the whole work thing.
Come home and cook dinner. After I get off work, I come home and cook dinner. Some times I cook from scratch and sometimes I use Home Chef meals. Home Chef allows me to pick up pre-determined meals that come pre-measured. I love Home Chef because it takes some of the mental load away of having to figure out what we have to eat for a few days.
Do photography work. After dinner, I am pretty much glued to my computer for most of the night. I could be doing a variety of activities: editing photos, working on the backend of my office, writing blog posts (like I’m doing now lol), etc. This can lead to many a late-night session.
Spend time with the family. So point 6 and 7 kinda switch back and forth. Sometimes I spend time with the hubby before I hop on the computer. I do my best to spend at least a few minutes with the hubby every day. Like I’ve said previously, I can have a very one-track mind when I start working on my photography business so I do my best to make sure I spend at least a few minutes with him a day. I also do my best to take at least one day off a week to spend actual time with the hubby lol.
Hit the hay. I usually get into bed around 11:00 PM/12:00 AM most nights. I know, I know, I should be sleeping more, but yeah… If I go to bed too early, I’ll wake up in the middle of the night so 11-ish is usually a good time for me to hit the hay.
So there you have it. That is a snapshot of my life on a normal basis. I think I may do a day in the life vlog for one of my photo shoot days.
