So I had some fun this past weekend and did a thrift shop/retro photo shoot with Dacara (www.instagram.com/dacarabutmakeitvintage). This was a fun little photoshoot that I’ve had in mind for awhile. I met Dacara through Instagram and I absolutely loved her style.
We decided to go to a local Goodwill for find the outfits. I only had two main goals for this photoshoot: 1) not spend more than $50 and 2) pick two outfits. We met goal #1…okay, we had to use my business discount to get under $50, but we still got there lol. We also met goal #2 and got two full outfits (including shoes which we were a little concerned about lol).
Outfit #1 was an orange dress, a colorful scarf, and yellow flats. Outfit #2 was a brown patterned skirt, brown shirt, and brown knee high boots. We ended up going to the cactus garden at Balboa Park. One thing I like about shooting at the cactus garden is it is usually pretty empty.
I absolutely loved how the outfits looked against the coloring of the cactus garden. I think the colors stood out enough against the background, but not so much that they looked out of place. I ended up editing the photos in a bit more of a retro vibe. I muted the colors a bit (thanks to the suggestion of Osa of Osa Igiede Photography) and added some grain to the images. To me, this helped give the images more of a vintage look.
